Some appraisers know antiques only typical to their local area -- Heirloom knows how to value even those items which are very unusual, and keeps current on trends on a national level. If there are items in an estate of that are outside of Heirloom's area of expertise, we have an extensive network of specialty appraisers who can provide consultation.

In order to achieve the CAPP designation, Lisa recorded over 3,000 hours of appraisal reporting and 300 hours of Continuing Education over 3 years. In addition, she passed a 5 hour Certified Appraisal of Personal Property examination and had her appraisal work scrutinized and approved by the ISA's Designation and Review Committee.

Estate Sale companies and Auction houses which appraise to buy can have serious conflicts of interest. Heirloom is not an appraiser/purchaser, and is required by the ISA code of ethics to disclose any possible interest in buying items.

What types of Services can Heirloom Provide?
Consultation - Heirloom estates can provide a consultation to evaluate your appraisal and estate liquidation needs. This service would include a walk-through of the house, and verbal information on the relative value of items, with a recommendation on next steps.
An Estate Liquidation Plan - This service is usually used when people want to sell their items but do not need them formally appraised.
Comprehensive Inventory - This would include photographs and a description sufficient to enable a future appraisal in the event of theft or damage. This service does not include values for the items.
Written Appraisal - A formal appraisal typically required for matters involving litigation, estate matters, tax donations, insurance claims, etc.
